Michelle Obama’s outfits typically pack a punch, and her Tonight Show looks were no exception.

After the First Lady got down on the dance floor to debut her hilarious Evolution of Mom Dancing: Part 2 performance with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, she ditched the pink cardigan and white sneakers and slipped into a supremely stylish ensemble for a chat with the host.

Her black-and-white crochet collage Tadashi Shoji dress ($408; tadashishoji.com) featured embroidered stripes, a black collar, and sheer accents on the shoulders and near the hemline. She topped off the look with metallic silver pointed-toe pumps and a perfectly polished lob.

During the visit, Michelle discussed daughters Natasha and Malia and their reaction to their dad, President Barack Obama, not knowing what a group chat is for text messaging. According to Mom, 16-year-old Malia dryly told him: "Oh, Dad. You're so detached."

Watch Michelle chat about family matters and how she listens to music in the video below.
