The 24th Annual GLAAD Awards got a big dose of support from Madonna, who was on hand to present Anderson Cooper with The Vito Russo Award at the event in New York City on Saturday. “I’ve had so many blessings in my life, and being gay is certainly one of the greatest blessings,” Cooper said as he accepted the award, which is given to an openly gay or lesbian media professional who has made a significant impact promoting equality for the LGBT community. “It has allowed me to love and be loved and to help open my head and my heart in ways I could never predicted.” Meanwhile, Madonna’s fashion statement—a Boy Scout uniform—also served a message of support for GLAAD’s campaign to end the organization’s ban on gay scouts and leaders.
