Vin Diesel’s Fast and Furious parade isn’t slowing down anytime soon. On Wednesday morning, the actor took to Instagram to confirm that the beloved adventure-packed series will explosively end with a trilogy set to unfold over the next few years. So how many films will the franchise have released under its high voltage belt once the last one hits theaters? A whopping 10.
Though his image didn’t come with a caption, it simply reads, “2 decades. 10 films. 1 saga.” The final installment of the Furious showdown will roll out with Furious 8, which will come April 14, 2017, followed by 9 and 10 in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
Diesel has of course previously spoken out about his deep appreciation for the project’s continued success and the family he’s built with A-list co-stars like Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and the late Paul Walker.
“We've come a long way. We've been doing this for 15 years. Fifteen years ago, Paul, Jordana, and Michelle, and I became a family,” he said inside the Hollywood Film Awards in Beverly Hills in November 2015. “I want to thank Universal for always believing in us and in this word multiculturalism–where it doesn't matter where you're from, doesn't matter what nationality you are,” he added, moving on to honor Walker’s legacy.
We can’t wait to see how the final chapters of the blockbuster will unfold.
