Victoria Beckham is used to being news on the fashion pages. But now she’s making news in the very sober business sections of newspapers after a British magazine named the former Spice girl the top U.K. entrepreneur of 2014, saying her business “skillfully leverages fame.”
The 100 companies on the list by Management Today were ranked by turnover growth and job creation in the last five years, and the value of Beckham’s brand has grown 2, 900 percent in that time, from $1.6 million in 2009 to $47 million this year. “It is her finely tuned business acumen that wins her the top spot,” said Philip Beresford, who compiled the list. Her nearest fashion competition on the list is Paul Smith, down at No. 80.
The quality of Beckham's collections silenced early doubters who said she was just an amateur. This latest accolade further establishes her as more than just a pretty face.
