Shades of nude and pale icy hues may have been all the rage on the Oscars red carpet, but some of Hollywood's starlets choose the opposite side of the color spectrum and showed off their dark side with frocks in shades of black, too. Emma Watson wowed in a metallic knitted Vera Wang gown accented with a godet mermaid skirt, Charlize Theron gave a dramatic illusion with her Christian Dior Couture gown with clear plastic straps and a sheer skirt. Anne Hathaway added some sparkle to her Gucci column silk crepe gown with a crystal-embroidered bodice, and nominated actress Julia Roberts wore a custom Givenchy lace number complete with a peplum detail. Other leading ladies who chose black on the red carpet? Margot Robbie, Olivia Wilde, and Anna Kendrick. Going dark never looked so good!
