It was girl’s night out in New York on Sunday as Miss You Already co-stars Toni Collette and InStyle's November cover girl Drew Barrymore stepped into the Museum of Modern Art for the film’s premiere. Dressed in a sequined Escada gown with lavender detailing, Collette dazzled with a fresh blonde pixie cut while Barrymore once more channeled her love of florals with a embroidered navy dress.

In the film, the two portray best friends Milly (Collette) and Jess (Barrymore) who test the bonds of friendship as Milly is diagnosed with breast cancer and Jess, ironically, finally gets pregnant. And while the duo’s on-screen portrayal is charmingly authentic, we fell in love with the two when they proved just how close they are off camera. As the duo posed in front of the step and repeat, giggling with each other endlessly, they took a moment to reveal the qualities they look for in a friend.

“Humor and honesty,” Barrymore told InStyle. Collette simply added “ditto.” So what was their chemistry like? “We got lucky. We have an electric connection,” Barrymore told reporters. “I would sooner be able to fake a romantic relationship on screen. I could never fake friendship because you don’t have the same kind of doe eyes and things that you can pull. It’s like you are or you aren’t with friendship.” Collette also shared warm sentiments about their connection. “You just get each other or you don’t. And we lucked out. We got each other and we love each other. We got lucky,” she said.

After the Cinema Society- and Montblanc-hosted premiere, the stars headed to SixtyFive, where guests like Cuba Gooding Jr., Nicole Miller, and June Ambrose enjoyed Qui tequila cocktails with breathtaking views of Manhattan 65 floors above the city. Collette’s favorite way to celebrate a girl’s night out? “Steak and martinis,” she told InStyle. Barrymore wholeheartedly agreed: “Yes. Absolutely. And a Caesar.”
