Essence’s 9th annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon was filled with A-list stars, famed producers, and legendary actresses. We caught up with Tia Mowry, the co-star of '90s hit Sister, Sister, who showed off her new ombre ‘do in a patterned BCBG skirt and blouse.

So who inspired her to go blonde? None other than Khloé Kardashian. “I’ve gone blonde before, which was about three years ago,” she told InStyle. “But, I saw what it did to her. I was like, damn, this girl looks good. I like the blunt cut. So I was like, let me try this.”

Like Kardashian, Mowry looked gorgeous with her sleek blonde lob. The actress, who called the event “like a therapy session” for making her emotional, also had some inspiring words for those who haven’t achieved their dreams.

“I remember Will Smith said something that’s so true. The closest five people who are around, it’s not like you become them, but you’ll pick up their thoughts, you’ll pick up their behavior, you’ll pick up what they believe. If they’re not positive, then that could be detrimental to you,” she told reporters.

And aside from surrounding yourself with supportive people, “believe in yourself,” she said. “If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you get others to?”

Blondes might have more fun, and they sure are wise, too.
