That selfie you're about to post has the ability to do a lot more than make those lurking followers of yours from high school jealous of your stunning looks. In conjunction with Almay’s Simply American Campaign, of which the very patriotic Carrie Underwood is the face, the brand has just launched a new social campaign that both honors the women of the U.S. military, and celebrates American Beauty.
Starting today, you can share your favorite red, white, and blue moment from your camera to any of your social platforms with the hashtag #SimplyAmerican. For every photo posted as well as each additional like or share each post gets, Almay will donate $1 toward the USO---meaning, now would be a pretty good time to link your Instagram account to your Facebook and Twitter. The brand is already planning to contribute a cool $250,000, and hopes to rack up an additional $10,000.
"The USO is the only organization that supports troops and military families through every phase of their service," says Christy Hartsell, USO VP of corporate alliances. "In continuation of our longstanding mission, the USO is excited to highlight and honor the spirit that drives women to serve our country through the Almay Simply American Campaign."
The brand also has fun things in store for the summer---on May 15, Almay will kick off a cross-country bus tour and stop at local festivals and state fairs, where they'll be offering makeup touch-ups among other exciting activities. "It's a unique opportunity to interact with consumers across the country," adds Almay Vice President Jill Krakowski. The tour will begin in New York City, and will travel through North Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, Illinois, and just about everywhere in between before ultimately ending in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 3.
