Tadashi Shoji Shows Us How to Make Glitter Liner Chic

Though many of us have worn regrettable styles of glitter liner in years past, we never thought we'd see the day the formerly gaudy accent would get a chic makeover, that is, until we saw the gilded look at Tadashi Shoji’s fall 2015 show at New York Fashion Week.

Playing off of the designer's flight-inspired collection, MAC lead makeup artist Pep Gay created an appropriately light-as-air look by balancing the dramatic eye with clean skin, and a glossy lip. After giving lashes a few pumps with the curling iron and a coat of brown mascara, he applied a sweep of Duo Lash Adhesive ($9; sephora.com) in the shape of a sharp wing, then went over the top with a gold glitter from MAC's Pro collection ($25; maccosmetics.com).

The hair, styled by Rodney Cutler for Redken, was worn smooth around the face, while volume and a slight bend were added to the mid-lengths and ends. "This collection is all about airy, easy elegance with a fresh take on an old Hollywood style," he says. "The hair looks luxe with voluminous curls, but young and sleek in the front with the severe part and silky texture."
