Planning a last-minute Halloween fête? An easy do-it-yourself project will save you from splurging big at the party store and earn you major accolades from your guests who will think you slaved for weeks on the décor. In search of some Pinspiration, we turned to crafting pro Abby Larson, founder and editor of the lifestyle blog Style Me Pretty, who shared a simple décor conceit for matte black cake stands (pictured above) that can be accomplished using items you likely already have lying around the house. "For me, DIY is more like DIQ—do it quickly," Larson tells InStyle. "I prefer to stay monochromatic. I'll top these cake stands with all-black desserts and sprinkle spray-painted leaves around the base for added flair." Trick out your dining room table in minutes with the below how-to.
