In this regular series, we demonstrate how our most intrepid readers sport the trends in our magazine. Look for it on What's Right Now every week, and be sure to try out a look or two yourself and tweet us a photo @InStyle using #inspiredbyinstyle. Today, we’re featuring Reader of the Week and Liz Rodriguez.
It's been a frigid New York winter, which means black, navy, and gray are in heavy wardrobe rotation. After a while, all the dark colors can get depressing. I came across February's "Color Crash Course: Rust" at the opportune time—I just bought this chunky turtleneck from Banana Republic!—and the story motivated me to do a monochromatic look, which takes a lot of the legwork out of mixing and matching patterns. I was even able to corporate an old skater skirt that had been hiding in the back of my closet for a while. The earthy shade really ties an outfit together!
