Does Sofia Vergara ever have a bad hair day? If you're taking her red carpet record into account, probably not. But that doesn't mean she woke up with strands this bouncy.

For our October cover shoot, the actress turned to hair pro Giannandrea Marongiu to perfect her perma-glossy locks. Inspired by a modern femme fatale, Marongiu first worked volumizing mousse through her wet strands to allow the hair to expand while it's drying.

The sassy and beautiful actress appeared on our October cover in a Jason Wu dress, accessorized with earrings by Sidney Garber, and a bracelet by Aurélie Bidermann. “The shoot today was a lot of fun,” Vergara stated. “We covered a lot of looks in a very small amount of time so that’s always very exciting to have so many changes of clothes.”

After blowing it smooth with a round brush, he rolled up large sections with medium-sized velcro rollers. "The trick to getting volume at the roots is to start the roller in the middle of the hair section," he says. "It also gives the ends a nice curve."

But the most important step of all? Be patient. "I let Sofia's hair sit in the rollers for 45 minutes," says Marongiu, who adds that the star moved over to the makeup chair during that time. Once the rollers are removed, he gently brushed her hair backward, creating a center part, and misted it with a flexible hold hairspray. "The combination of the round brush and the rollers really pump up the volume," he says. "And, of course, Sofia has the most splendid hair to work with."
