Sia isn’t just a captivating performer and a wig enthusiast—she’s a songwriter for big-name stars. But when one of her creations is turned down, she doesn’t let it go to waste. Instead, she records it herself and creates an album of tunes that weren’t quite right for stars like Rihanna or Adele.
So when can we expect to hear these passed-over songs? Her new album, This Is Acting, drops Jan. 29, but she just took to Twitter to share a preview of the song “Reaper,” which Kanye West co-wrote and co-produced. Originally written for Rihanna, Sia instead kept the “fun song” for herself, she told Rolling Stone. Listen to the snippet here:
Back in December the singer-songwriter released the single “Cheap Thrills” from her upcoming album. Also intended for Rihanna, Sia “just couldn’t stop listening to it in the car” after it was passed over. We’re happy this great writer has the vocals to match. If her hit “Chandelier” taught us anything, we’ll be playing this album on repeat.
