Beginning with her film debut in the 1966 thriller Eye of the Devil. this gorgeous actress managed to fit an illustrious career into the 26 years of her short life. She earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Valley of the Dolls, and met her husband, Roman Polanski, while working alongside him in the 1967 film The Fearless Vampire Killers. Tate also appeared in the film 12+1, which was released in 1969, after her untimely death.
The actress and model was renowned for her beauty, appearing in multiple magazines and remembered today as a '60s fashion icon. “I have never seen a woman who could stop traffic with her beauty like Sharon,” Warren Beatty is quoted as saying in the book Sharon Tate: Recollection ($25; amazon.com).
Her kindness is remembered as well, with friends and co-workers recalling her sweet disposition. “Her inner beauty superseded her outer beauty, if you can imagine,” said her co-star Patty Duke.
