Marc Jacobs has already bid adieu to his 16-year tenure at Louis Vuitton, but the designer left us with one final farewell in the form of an ad campaign for the French fashion house’s spring 2014 collection. Louis Vuitton’s just-released ads feature an all-star cast of Jacobs’ muses like Gisele Bündchen, Sofia Coppola, and Catherine Deneuve, making the campaign feel very personal. Each has a long-standing relationship with the brand—Coppola designed the SC bag in 2009 and has collaborated with Louis Vuitton on designing store windows, and both Denueve and Bündchen have appeared in the brand's ads in the past. Fan Bingbing, Caroline de Maigret, and Edie Campbell also star in the campaign.
The gorgeous portraits were shot by Steven Meisel on a simple studio backdrop and in a restrained color palette to focus the spotlight on the personality of each woman. Appearing in Jacobs' final ready-to-wear collection for Louis Vuitton, they posed with a variation of the brand's Nouveau Noé bag, an update to an iconic 1932 style designed by Gaston-Louis Vuitton to carry five bottles of champagne. "Just as Marc Jacobs’ valedictory show was intended as a celebration, so this, his final campaign for Louis Vuitton, offers a vibrant homage to women and to enduring style," the brand said. We have to say, this is one power statement and an incredible final hurrah for Jacobs! MORE:
