Gisele Bündchen is hanging up her catwalk shoes once and for all. The supermodel officially retired from runway modeling with a final walk at the Colcci show during Sao Paulo Fashion Week in Brazil. It's hard to believe that it was 20 years ago that a young Bündchen made her runway debut in the same city.
With her proud husband Tom Brady looking on, Bündchen donned two different dresses for her final bow: a white minidress over a black bikini and knee-high gladiators (above) and an orange striped dress worn over a white bikini with beige gladiators (below).
At the end of the show, Bündchen came out in jeans and a white tank top that featured a picture of herself doing yoga. The rest of the models from the Colcci show—also wearing shirts emblazoned with Bündchen's likeness—joined her on the runway:
"I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey," Bündchen wrote on Instagram before the show. Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business."
Bündchen recently explained the thoughts behind her retirement. “Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop. I respect my body. It’s a privilege to be able to stop,” she told Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo.
The change will also provide her with more time to spend with Brady—who wrote a beautiful heartfelt message on Facebook (see it below)to his wife before the show—and their two children, Benjamin and Vivian.
