Curious to know which of your favorite Scream Queens are returning for Season 2? Executive Producer Brad Falchuk and the show’s returning cast made the announcement at their Paleyfest panel Saturday night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif.
“According to the boss, we are all going to be back,” Jamie Lee Curtis told the audience. Along with Curtis, you can expect to see Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Billie Lourd, Abigail Breslin, and Niecy Nash, who will all reprise their roles for next season's batch of comedy-horror. Fan-favorite Glen Powell will also return as Chad Radwell, as well as three new male characters, none of which have been cast yet. “We’re going to have three studly hot doctors in there to populate the room and interact with our female characters,” Falchuk said.
He also gave a rundown of what to expect for the sophomore season, which will take place in a hospital. “[Dean Munsch (Curtis)] has abolished the Greek system in the country, she’s written her book, she’s traveled the world, and she says, ‘I need a new mission, I need a new battle,’ and she identifies healthcare as her new battle,” Falchuk said. “She’s decided to buy a hospital and run this hospital how she sees fit.”
“We didn’t know this information!” Jamie Lee Curtis chimed in. Falchuk then shared what each character will be up to: Zayday (Keke Palmer) has graduated from Wallace University in two years and decides to train with Dean Munsch and become a doctor; The Chanels (played by Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, and Billie Lourd) are still locked in the mental institution but have turned things around and enroll in medical school; and Denise Hemphill (Niecy Nash) has joined the FBI and will visit the hospital often when things start to go awry (it is a horror show, after all). As for Lea Michele’s character Hester, who was one of the red devil killers, her role is still a bit of a mystery for the next season, and for good reason. “There is an aspect of this show that involves murder and a killer,” Falchuk explained. “Hester is going to be intimately involved with that.”
At the panel, Michele’s ears perked up when she heard that news. “Intimately involved? With Harry Styles?” she joked, after rumors went around that the famous One Directioner would be making a cameo on the show.
Mums the word on the rest of Season 2, but one thing is certain: we can’t wait to see what tricks Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan have up their sleeves. The show airs this fall on FOX!
