Ryan Gosling was just nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in La La Land, but the actor is singing the praises of another role that he deems much more important: being a family man. The life he's built with Eva Mendes and daughters Esmeralda and Amada is as dreamy and amazing as it can get, he's revealed in an interview with GQ.
"Eva's the dream mother, and they're dream babies, and it's like a dream that I'm having right now," said the Canadian-born heartthrob. "I'm dreaming it all. When you meet your kids you realize that they deserve great parents. And then you have your marching orders and you have to try and become the person that they deserve." Could it get any sweeter?
And we all remember Gosling's foray into the industry through the Mickey Mouse Club, right? He actually wished that he would have spent more effort on singing and dancing when he was a child, so that it came easier to him when filming La La Land. "Some of the styles of dance in La La Land I wish I had spent time on when I was a kid," he confessed. "People are breaking into song and dancing and flying in the stars, and the audience is also having to accept them as real people in the world. That was a challenge. There's nothing cynical about this movie, and there's no out for us to say, 'Just kidding!' We can't be ironic about it. There's no avenue for that in this. It wears its heart on its sleeve, this film."
