Fact: We completely geeked out when it was first announced that cool-girl label Rodarte and our go-to retailer & Other Stories would collaborate on a capsule collection. And the day is finally here. Well, almost. We're still one week out (the pieces hit stores and stories.com on March 17), but the lookbook has arrived—and it's everything we hoped for and more.
Evidently, it's everything the celebrity set had hoped for, as well. Selena Gomez (above) is clearly already a fan—she stepped out in Paris on Thursday in two designs from the capsule: a plunging, high-slit sequined number that she expertly grounded with a furry-patched jacket.
And that's just a small sampling of the Rodarte x & Other Stories greatness. There are easy wrap dresses, patchworked skirts and boots, pajama-inspired tops, and terrific flared pants—all brimming with rich textures, like plush velvet (a fall 2016 trend), suede, and high-shine sequins. The collection doesn't skew one way or the other, but it's found a middle ground between Rodarte's fantastical maximalist vision and & Other Stories' urban minimalist aesthetic. It's truly the best of both brands.
"We wanted to create a collection that represents the textures of a California lifestyle," say Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sisters behind Rodarte. "The clothes should easily transition from day to night and transform to one's personal style and individuality. For us, it was important to create go-to staples for one's wardrobe: a great jacket, dress, skirt, blouse, sweater, shoes, and a set of jewelry that are completely versatile."
Start drafting your shopping list and take a look at the collection (priced between $39 and $395), which is available March 17 at stories.com.
