It's been quite the week for Rihanna. Yesterday it was revealed that she had earned one of the coveted spots in the star-studded Ocean's Eight cast, and today it was announced that the singer is going to be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
Aside from accepting the trophy, Rihanna will also take to the stage to perform during the ceremony, which will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York City for the very first time. RiRi is also nominated for four other awards, including "Best Female Video" for her hit song "Work."
The superstar took to Instagram to share the news with her fans, writing: "Honored to take the #VMAs stage as this year’s Michael Jackson Video #VANGUARD award recipient on August 28!!"
Rihanna joins a prestigious list of past Video Vanguard Award recipients that includes Michael Jackson, Madonna, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, and Kanye West.
