What does the Queen of the Hamptons have in common with the Duchess of Cambridge? In addition to both of their glorious trademark hairstyles, they both know how to repeat an outfit like a pro! For Natalie's Fourth of July party on last night's episode of Revenge, costume designer Jill Ohanneson dressed Victoria Grayson [Madeline Stowe] in a number that might have looked familiar if you've been keeping track of Queen V's wardrobe lineup. "That is one of Madeline's favorite dresses, and we actually used it one other time for a scene she did with Pascal. I don't know if we ever saw it from the front, but she really wanted to wear it again," Ohanneson tells InStyle. "It was by L'Wren Scott---we love our homage to her, always." The red-hot sequin ensemble was paired with Manolo Blahnik gold stiletto pumps, a Charter Club bracelet, Charming Charlie teardrop earrings, a Michael Kors clutch, and a coordinating lip color.
The striking crimson color also provided contrast, while giving off a bit of a power-play vibe, against Natalie's black Monique Lhuillier outfit. "It was wonderful to see Victoria go at it with someone who wasn't Emily. I mean, I love when she and Emily go at it, but it's interesting seeing her go toe-to-toe with someone else," adds Ohanneson. The scene in which Natalie tried to pretend David attacked her and ripped her dress as a pivotal one in returning the throne to Queen Victoria, with hidden wardrobe tricks at that. "We have such a brilliant seamstress," she tells us. "We undid the seam, then we put little velcro dots in to make Natalie's dress look like it had been ripped, then we were able to sew it back together after." Though it appears we may be seeing the last of Natalie, we're not sure if we can say the same about Victoria's red dress---no spoilers here, but the gorgeous piece may or may not reappear in the show's season finale... We're sure Victoria Grayson wouldn't have it any other way!
