Another day, another thigh-high slit for Renée Zellweger. The actress attended the New York City premiere of Bridget Jones's Baby on Monday night wearing an uber-chic strapless column gown with a dramatic patterned skirt. The dress's black crushed velvet bodice showed off the 47-year-old's lean upper body, while a soaring slit in the center of the brown and green skirt showcased her toned legs. Zellweger kept her makeup to a minimum for the event and styled her golden locks in a low chignon, with a single loose tendril framing her face.
Bridget Jones's Baby is the third installment in the franchise based on Helen Fielding's books which chronicle the romantic misadventures of the adorably awkward Bridget Jones (played by Zellweger). This time, Bridget finds herself unexpectedly expecting and uncertain of who the father is: either Patrick Dempsey or Colin Firth's characters.
Zellweger stopped on the red carpet to speak with People about having to wear a prosthetic baby bump for the film.
"It was hot and heavy and didn't smell very nice. But I got to take it off at the end of the day unlike the ladies who were having the real experience," she said. "So I can not complain. It really did make the experience more authentic, because my feet did bother me. You did feel it."
Bridget Jones's Baby is due in U.S. theaters Sept. 16.
