To complement her blush-toned Julien Macdonald dress at the 2013 CMA Awards last night, Lucy Hale's makeup followed an amped-up neutral color scheme, which stood out on its own, but didn't distract from her elegant gown. "We knew her makeup had to be glamorous, but not overpower the sweetness of her overall look," said her makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan. "We decided a fresh look focusing on her eyes, and drew shadow inspiration from the colors of her dress." Once Deenihan had created a flawless canvas, she added a slight contour using mark's Powder Blush in Cameo, then blended the brand's Wonder Glow All Over Face Palette ($9 and $16; meetmark.com) onto the apples of Hale's cheeks. Moving onto her eyes, Deenihan picked up the two shadows on the far left side of mark's 10 Year Anniversary Palette ($12; meetmark.com), and blended both onto the star's lids. "For the inner corners of her eyes, I used the white shade on the far right," the pro added. "The brightness in the corners allows the shadow to catch the light, and it makes Lucy's eyes appear larger." A sweep of liner and a generous amount of mark's Scanda-Lash Mascara in Blackest Black ($11; meetmark.com) added subtle definition. Deenihan chose mark's Make It Rich Lip Crayon in Naturally ($11; meetmark.com) as the finishing touch. "This sweet peachy-pink allowed the focus to be on her eyes, but also complements her dress and her overall look," she said. Perfect!
