It’s no secret that President Obama can get emotional—he has been publically moved to tears by everything from gun violence to Aretha Franklin’s powerful voice. So it makes sense that when his oldest daughter, Malia, graduates from high school, he expects to be tearing up.

At a Detroit luncheon on Wednesday, Obama revealed to guests that he turned down a request to speak at Malia’s graduation. Instead of taking the stage, he’ll be seated in the audience. People reports that the President said he’ll just “cry and sit there.”

In fact, POTUS can’t even discuss his 17-year-old leaving home without getting emotional, he said last week in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
