Don't call it a comeback -- the ponytail has been here for years! The classic style has long been a staple for both polished ensembles and last-minute runs to the gym alike, but designers at Paris Fashion Week and the Divergent cast has shown us new ways to wear the look. Case in point: The ribbon-adorned version from the Chanel FW 2014/2015 show, where models walked through the Chanel Supermarket in super-sleek ponys accented with strips of tweed mirrored throughout the collection. While the runway effect is a little extreme, in the real world, you don't need as many additions to make such an impact. Start by sectioning your hair into three areas, forming a defined part on either side of the head, then pull the length into a high ponytail at your crown. Once you've anchored the style with a hair elastic, take a few strips of ribbon and tie them around varied points at the base of the accessory, and allow the length to blend with your layers.
Inspired by equal parts runway and our favorite Dauntless initiates (a la Divergent), we rounded up our 7 favorite styles, that give the tried-and-true ponytail an edgy twist.
