Vinyl star and award-winning environmental activist Olivia Wilde has a storied red carpet history of dropping jaws in daring Michael Kors jumpsuits and non-traditional Rosie Assouline frocks. And though we’ve learned, thanks to Instagram, that the actress is a major fan of comfy clothes, she’s gearing up to deliver another glamorous moment as a presenter at this Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.

So what can we expect Wilde to wow in at the ceremony? “I have no idea,” she tells InStyle. “I have no patience, so it comes down to the first thing I like. I’m like, ‘This is perfect!’ But we’re so lucky in this business that we have the chance to wear some of the most beautiful things ever made, and I see those awards as an opportunity to collaborate with that designer and show something they’ve made. It’s an honor, but it’s going to be fun.”

Despite Wilde's last-minute outfit-picking tendencies, she does have a knack for making red carpet history. And there’s one gown in particular she’ll never forget. “I was six months pregnant last time I presented and I was thrilled to be there. I was so happy. And it’s just a nice moment to share with my son in a funny way. We went there together,” she says.

“Karla Welch is my stylist, and she’s really brilliant. And together, we showed that pregnant women can still be sexy," she tells InStyle of the brilliant emerald gown she wore to the 2014 Globes (above). "And there’s no need to disguise yourself in lots of layers and Gucci made a beautiful dress.”
