Olivia Palermo is the queen of street style (see examples here, here, and here), but the designer knows that not every piece has to be a splurge. The stunning model told InStyle her trick for rocking a choker necklace without spending a dime at Wednesday night’s event for Piaget’s Possession Collection in New York.
“I think that you can play with different materials,” she said, advocating for even leather or suede. “You can take light, delicate ways of doing it. You can even take a shoelace and be really creative.”
With one look at the street style-icon’s neck, it’s clear she believes in her own advice. The star wore a delicate pink Adornmonde choker ($56; adornmonde.com) wrapped around her neck three times and tied neatly in the front. Paired with stunning pieces from the new Piaget Possession Collection, like a drop earring that was repurposed as an accessory on her cartilage, the combination was truly elegant.
So what drew Palermo to the collaboration with this iconic brand? Their shared love of delicate jewelry and rose gold coloring. It helped that her husband, Johannes Huebl, was on-hand to photograph the campaign images. “We’re a good team together, so he made it that much easier and it was just a really nice shoot,” she said.
Of course, we can’t talk about the star without touching on her outfit choice for the fun night, where the new line was celebrated with a DJ, cocktails, and one fashionable crowd. Palermo looked ready for summer (and N.Y.C.’s 90-degree heat) in a white Paul & Joe suit and a silky La Perla tank, accessorizing with Stella McCartney shoes and a Nathalie Trad clutch.
We’ll take all of the advice we can get from this stylish star.
