Sacai is a cult-favorite brand for a reason: Japanese designer Chitose Abe is celebrated for her unique manipulation of textiles and modern interpretations of classic pieces, like knife-pleated skirts spliced to reveal a slip or deconstructed outerwear that boast a mish-mash of fabrics. All of that combined with her high-fashion sporty approach to design is why the brand makes a perfect candidate for NikeLab's fashion collection season after season. For fall/holiday 2015, the two have teamed up again to deliver more of that undefeatable greatness.
“I want everyone to touch, feel and enjoy the collection,” Abe says. "Sacai’s vision is to take classic styles that are familiar to everyone, such as the cardigan, shirt or jacket, and play with the fabrics and silhouettes. I applied this same design philosophy to the NikeLab x sacai collection, expressing the style of Nike that everyone knows through sacai’s eye."
In this line-up, you'll find high-performance tops treated to pleated capes, track jackets or wool skirts deliberately exaggerated in size, and slick joggers cut from Nike's tech fleece knits. It's a collection that happily marries the two brands, and we have to say, it looks even better on (see Russian track and field athlete Daria Klishnia modeling the designs in the campaign for proof, above).
