The polka dot is a tricky thing, you see. When the pattern is worn incorrectly, it can look unflatteringly juvenile, leaving you looking perfectly appropriate for your first day of kindergarten, but unfortunately leaving you underprepared for a sexy date night out. However, when done well, the plain 'ole polka dot can look classy, sexy and cool--which is exactly how it looked on Nicole Kidman on Friday night.
The sexy star made festival-goers do a double take at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival when she walked the red carpet in an array of polka dot prints at the premiere of her new film Strangerland, where she plays the role of a woman whose relationship is pushed to the edge when her and her husband's (played by Joseph Fiennes) teen children disappear in the Australian desert.
Swapping her usual red carpet attire (read: show-stopping gown and heels) for a sweater and cropped trousers from Michael Kors's pre-fall collection, Kidman looked anything but childish. She looked amazing. We love the understated look and the mix of polka dot prints. After all, it's not easy to choose a red carpet look to wear on the snowy streets of Park City, Utah. Two thumbs up, Nicole.
