It may not have had the secrecy like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's summer nuptials, but the stars certainly aligned for George Clooney, 53, and London barrister Amal Alamuddin, 36, who wed in Venice last night (Saturday, Sept. 27). Their whirlwind romance (film screening at the White House! vacation in Tanzania! red carpet gala!) was capped off this morning as the beaming newlyweds hopped a boat (as they do in Venice) in fine threads, elegant wedding bands and broad smiles.
In a Giambattista Valli romantic lace sleeved frock with flowers strewn across the bodice, Alamuddin proved she's not only got the brains and beauty to snap the world's former most eligible bachelor, but she's got the fashion chops too. (The groom didn't look too bad himself in a sleek gray suit.)
The two were en route to a post-wedding brunch for friends at the Hotel Cipriani in the Italian city. And what bold-faced chums! Amongst those on the guest list this glamorous weekend: Cindy Crawford with Rande Gerber, Emily Blunt with John Krasinski, and Luciana Barroso with Matt Damon.
Crawford stood out on the wedding night in a ultramarine gown with halter neckline.
Meanwhile, Blunt played up her slim figure (and to think she had a baby this year!) in an embellished turquoise column to attend the nuptials.
Not to be outdone, Barroso donned a pretty Naeem Khan lilac empire waist gown from the designer's pre-fall 2014 collection. Cheers to happy couple!
