Yesterday saw the debut New York runway walk of Finnish textile company Marimekko at New York Fashion Week! The brand is most well-known for its vivid, bright prints, which CEO Mike Ihamuotila told InStyle.com aim to "make people happy"—a point that was reinforced by models smiling down the runway! "Our message is so different and we wanted to come to New York now because we feel that people can understand," Marimekko CEO Mika Ihamuotila told InStyle.com. "The inspiration came from, 'What can we do with colors to let people really feel good?' For instance, letting women be who they are and inspiring them to stop pretending in their lives. We want to be totally different, and we feel that New York is probably the world’s best place to talk about that." Mission accomplished: The models' glowing expressions were a welcome change.
