The newest Bond film, Spectre, hits the big screen on Friday, Nov. 6. This isn't just the 24th time we’ll see Bond battle the world’s darkest forces (and the fourth time we’ll see Daniel Craig portray the iconic role), but also when we meet the newest Bond Girl aiding his missions. This time, it’s 28-year-old Stephanie Sigman who cozies up to the British superhero, as she plays a woman named Estrella, a mysterious new woman in Bond's life. Don’t know much about her? Let’s change that. Just scroll down.
1. Sigman is the first Mexican-born Bond Girl.
Sigman’s mother is from Mexico and her dad was born in America. Although there have been many actresses of Mexican descent in the Bond films, Sigman is the first Bond Girl to actually have been born in Mexico.
2. You can catch her on Netflix.
She’s part of the ensemble Netflix series Narcos, which is about the criminal exploits of Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar. In the series, Sigman plays Columbian reporter Valeria Velez, a character inspired by real-life journalist Virginia Vallejo. Wagner Moura and Boyd Holbrook also star.
3. Her red carpet game is on point.
Sigman is already becoming a red carpet fixture. She made quite the statement when she arrived at the London premiere in a straight-off-the-runway Marchesa gown from the spring 2016 collection. She looked like perfection, even though she had just arrived straight from the airport.
4. The Arctic Monkeys adopted her for a music video.
Sigman played a steak-eating, black lingerie-wearing beauty in Arctic Monkeys’ 2014 hit single, "Snap Out Of It," which was released on June 17, 2014. Watch it here.
5. She’s done danger before.
Sigman’s breakout role was the 2011 movie Miss Bala. In the film, based on true events, she played a beauty pageant contestant who gets involved with a drug cartel against her will.
6. Comics are her thing.
Follow her on Instagram (@stephaniesigman), and you’ll notice that she posts photos in her favorite Marvel gear and accessories.
7. Don’t mess with the New York Yankees.
Because she’s a huge fan. Her father, Lee Sigman, works as a scout for the MLB team in Mexico.
