Talk about metallic elegance! Natalie Portman had more than one reason to celebrate at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala: Noche de Niños over the weekend—first, she was honored with the Courage to Care Award, and, second, she looked utterly gorgeous. Dressed in an artfully draped gray Christian Dior creation, the actress dazzled at the Los Angeles charity event where she spoke about her deep passion for the cause.
"I’m so happy to be part of Children’s Hospital," Portman tells InStyle. "I’ve been working with them for several years and I’m so impressed by the doctors, the nurses, the child-life specialists, and mostly the kids themselves, and anything I can do to help be a part of that. This is my community and I really feel part of it." The star also touched on the importance of giving back with your time: "Volunteering is such an incredible experience for me. Like most volunteer experiences," she says. "You end up getting so much out of it yourself."
Portman was joined at the charity fundraising event by her husband, Benjamin Millepied, along with other stars including Teri Hatcher, Rashida Jones, Jamie Lee Curtis, Maria Menounos, and Denise Richards. For the occasion, the Event Deck at L.A. Live was transformed with oversized masks, sprays of feathers, and textured butterflies to take on a Carnaval theme, and guests dined on bites by Wolfgang Puck while they were treated to a performance by Seal.
