We can always count on the MTV Video Music Awards to deliver indelible pop culture moments that instantly set Twitter ablaze. But some of the best behind-the-scenes action from the show goes down when the cameras are off and stars are left to schmooze, embrace, and snap selfies. Here, 11 things we witnessed inside Madison Square Garden that you may have missed on the small screen.

1. DJ Khaled took periodic breaks from hosting the VMAs pre-show to send Snapchats (of course).

2. Naomi Campbell ran up to Diddy on the red carpet to give him a big hug and kiss, after which he told her, "You look amazing!"

3. SNL's Jay Pharoah gave his best Kanye West impression ahead of the rapper's much-hyped four-minute rant.

4. Everyone in Madison Square Garden chanted, "Taylor!" during Kanye West's speech.

5. Ansel Elgort and his date, girlfriend Violetta Komyshan, were the last to go inside the stadium, minutes before the show started.
