Happy birthday, Vivienne Westwood! The eccentric English designer, who turns 74 today, brought punk fashion into the mainstream by first creating clothes for the London boutique of Malcolm McLaren, the manager of the Sex Pistols. Unlike many trends, Westwood's designs have not faded from society—one of Sarah Jessica Parker's most iconic fashion moments in the Sex and the City movie was when she modeled a Vivienne Westwood wedding dress, which was later gifted to her in the film. Pharrell Williams also wore a vintage Westwood hat to the 2014 Grammys, which earned a spot in pop culture history (on top of its own Twitter account).
