Mo'Nique may have walked away with the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress last night for her role in Precious, but it was her brilliant blue gown that earned her a spot in the sartorial hall of fame for most sentimental. The Tadashi Shoji dress, along with the flower pinned in her hair, paid homage to Hattie McDaniel, the first African American actress to receive an Oscar. "This is actually the same color she wore when she walked down the red carpet in 1940," Mo'Nique said in the press room. "This is also the same flower—a gardenia—she wore in her hair."
