Good news for Cobie Smulders and her husband Saturday Night Live star Taran Killam: The couple just welcomed their second child, People confirmed. The new arrival joins Smulders and Killam's 5-year-old daughter, Shaelyn Cado. No details on the baby's gender or name have been revealed so far by the parents, who have been married since 2012.
The How I Met Your Mother actress made the announcement at the Sundance Film Festival this week when she quietly dropped to Bustle that she had a 3-week-old baby at home. Smulders is in Park City, Utah, to promote two upcoming films. In the indie drama Unexpected, she plays a teacher who develops an unlikely friendship with one of her students when they find themselves pregnant at the same time. And even though Smulders's pregnancy coincided with filming, she had to deal with a few cumbersome prosthetic bellies since she wasn't showing at the time.
For the comedy Results, Smulders had to beef up her workout regime during her pregnancy to portray a personal trainer. “I’d never been a big gym person before, especially with lifting weights,” she told InStyle at the film festival. But after shooting wrapped, “I felt so strong and empowered, and really capable of being able to physically handle any situation that would come my way.”
In addition to the two films, Smulders will appear in the upcoming Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron this year.
