“WTF?!” one bride gasped as she realized her wedding crasher was none other than Adam Levine. On Dec. 6, 2014, five lucky couples got the wedding crash of a lifetime when the ultimate wedding band—Maroon 5—took the stage at their weddings. The flash entertainment was the centerpiece of the band’s brand new video for “Sugar,” from their newly released fifth album, V.

Directed by David Dobkin—the same man behind the 2005 hit comedy Wedding Crashers starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn—the video documents Levine and co. jetting about town in a vintage convertible clad in tuxedos. As they walk through stairwells and catering kitchens (to the staff’s utter shock), they appear on stage behind a curtain. Confused, unsuspecting brides, grooms, guests and disgruntled fathers of the bride are soon crying tears of joy when the curtain drops, revealing none other than Maroon 5 in lights and confetti.

On playing his part of uninvited wedding guest of the year, Levine says in statement that crashing the weddings was “an out of body experience ... I had no idea I would be affected by the overwhelming reactions we received from the couples and guests. Being able to create an unforgettable experience for several people was the highlight of it all.”
