Love at First Shade: Preen Debuts Eyewear Collection

Finally, here are shades that are worth the splurge! The designers behind the celebrity-loved brand Preen, Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, are bringing their genius touch to eyewear for the first time, collaborating with Australian brand Sunshades Eyewear to fashion three signature styles: the ruffled cat-eye "Phillipa" (Thornton's favorite, pictured above, on model), the bold round "Big Ben" (Bregazzi's fave), and the statement graphic-print "Pemberely" (also pictured above).

Each design embraces an element of Victoriana, a theme often explored and woven throughout their ready-to-wear collections. "Thea and I looked to vintage 1950s eyewear references and opted to blend it with a Miami-inspired color palette," Thornton tells InStyle.com. "The whimsical collection is a combination of bold, masculine shapes with pops of feminine florals and fine gold detail."

The result is a collection of beautiful contradictions—the frames embody a retro feel without losing sight of the present, and they are equally dramatic and understated, both trendy and classic. For the designing duo, this was also the perfect opportunity to to flesh out their brand across international waters. "Eyewear was the perfect choice," Thornton says. "It's accessible to everyone; it's exciting and always fun."
