English hit makers Howard and Guy Lawrence, otherwise known as Disclosure, are set to drop their second LP, Caracal, on Wednesday, and while the tracklist includes collaborations with The Weeknd, Miguel, and Sam Smith (who colors this summer’s hit “Omen”) it’s the addition of Lorde that has fans wildly counting down the hours until the record is available.
Much in tune with the dark yet soothing hymn-like vocals from her debut album, Pure Heroine, her mature transition to the duo’s “Magnets” perfectly captures the electronic riffs of the song, which she co-wrote. During a live radio interview with Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, the 18-year-old songstress revealed that the musical threesome bonded instantly. “The song is about that moment that you realize you’re about to do something that’s wrong and you’re not in your right mind because you’re blinded by how badly you want to do whatever it is,” she told Lowe. “Everyone’s been in that situation…I was like, ‘I want to write this, and I want to do it with you guys,’ and they were super into it.”
Since the release of her various chart-topping premiere singles like “Royals,” and “Team,” the wise beyond her years singer has catapulted into international stardom, sitting front row at fashion shows and, of course, taking the 1989 Tour stage with Taylor Swift. So when can we expect another solo project? The talent has new songs in the mix, but she’s not rushing into releasing just anything. “I think it’s going to hopefully be really great,” she said.
