Once again, Lily James hit the red carpet looking gorgeous from head to toe. This time the Hollywood star stepped out for the Los Angeles premiere of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in a gorgeous Alexander McQueen dress that earned her the top spot on our Look of the Day list. Naturally, her beautiful hair and makeup complemented the look, and we went straight to the source to find out how to score James's romantic waves and glowing skin.
Jenn Streicher explained to InStyle, "Lily loved the Alexander McQueen dress she wore last night, since the dress was a statement in itself we didn’t want to go too crazy with hair or makeup. We wanted the look to convey accidental sexiness. That translated into makeup that was quite simple, but with a bold lip as the focus."
A clean and moisturized foundation is key for the dewy look. So Streicher prepped the star's skin with Votre Vu Attentive Crème de Nuit Sensitive Skin ($49; votrevu.com) before working in the Votre Vu Love Me Deux Moisture Tint and Concealer ($43; votrevu.com).
Next, the makeup pro sculpted her cheeks with the contour shade from Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow ($68; net-a-porter.com). "On the apples of her cheeks, I used a dusky rose cream blush called Bouquet Rose from Votre Vu Vu-On Rouge ($29; votruvu.com)."
And that modern bold lip was created with Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in 1975 Red ($32; net-a-porter.com).
The skin on James's face wasn't the only part of her body that radiated under the flashing lights. Streicher also illuminated her arms and chest with Votre Vu Silk Stockings ($34; votrevu.com). "It’s a body lotion that has a little color and shimmer to it. Lily's skin is quite fair, so that product was key. It made her look sun-kissed, and she loved that!"
Streicher's sister, Ashley Streicher, was the genius behind those glam waves, and she shared the secret to the bouncy hold and light-reflecting radiance. "While her hair was wet, I sprayed Leonor Greyl Lait Luminescence spray ($48; nordstrom.com) through the ends." If shine and luminosity is your goal, this baby works wonders. Before blow drying or curling her strands, the hair expert also protected the star's mane with Leonor Greyl Eclat Naturel Styling Cream ($46; saks.com).
The hairstylist went on to explain, "I gave her a clean side part. And then, starting on the parted side, I wrapped two-inch sections of hair around a one-inch styling rod and sprayed with Leonor Greyl Laque Souple ($36; saks.com)." Once her entire head was completed the pro took a vent brush to stretch individual curls and secured each spiral with Leonor Greyl Voluforme Spray ($36; nordstrom.com). One side was tucked behind her ears to complete another A+ red carpet look.
