New York’s Bowery Ballroom felt like the late ‘70s all over again on Tuesday thanks to Blondie’s Debbie Harry, her killer vocals, and, perhaps most importantly: her jeans. The 71-year-old rock-n-roller was on hand to perform inside the private show, but she was also celebrating the arrival of Levi’s 505C ($98; levi.com), a new pair of indigo beauties designed to bring the brand’s iconic 505 jean back to life.

“The 505 was a symbol of counter-culture. It rose to fame during an era of unrivaled creativity in art and music. We’re excited to introduce a modern and slimmer take on this classic. It’s equally and subversively sexy on both men and women,” Karyn Hillman, Levi’s chief product officer, said in a statement.

So what’s so special about this new design? The customized creation (the “C” in 505C stands for customized) features a straight leg, slim-fit look and honors the classic, no-frills M.O. of the 505. “Blue denim has always been truly American,” Harry said in a statement, reminiscing on her love for jeans.
