Twenty-two years and five Academy Award nominations later, Leonardo DiCaprio is finally an Oscar winner thanks to his impressive turn in The Revenant. His big win was arguably one of the most exciting moments of the night with fans and celebrities alike taking to Twitter to congratulate the star for finally being recognized.

As soon as Julianne Moore announced his name in the Best Actor category, social media went wild. More than 440,000 tweets per minute were sent out surrounding DiCaprio's win, making it the most-tweeted about minute of an Oscars broadcast ever—beating the previous record of 255,000 tweets per minute when Ellen DeGeneres posted her epic selfie in 2014.

The buzz surrounding his win was not lost on DiCaprio. During his speech he said: "I do not take this moment for granted"—a sentiment he later echoed in the press room. "It all feels incredibly surreal," he told reporters. "This year in particular I've been overwhelmed with such support. Really, truly, by so many fans and so many people in the industry. It's quite shocking, actually. What can I say, except that I'm really grateful? I really am."
