When you're going for airbrushed, but your foundation leaves you with a Jim Carrey circa The Mask effect—you know, completely mismatched colors on your face and body—it's probably time to rethink your formula of choice. Of course, mixing two shades is always an option, but even still, getting the hue exact can be pretty tricky. Enter Lancôme's Le Teint Particulier foundation-mixing device, which is guaranteed to create pitch-perfect match to your own natural complexion. The technology used is similar to Sephora's Color IQ tool in that a scanner is held up to specific areas of your face and analyzes the varied tones. Instead of picking a shade from Lancôme's arsenal, the machine actually mixes your own custom blend using the precise amount of pigment to match your complexion, which you can also alter to have a full-coverage, medium, or sheer finish. You'll go home with a bottle, which includes anything you'd like inscribed on the label, for $80, and the brand will keep your mixture on file if you need to veer a shade lighter or darker depending on the season. Currently, Lancôme's Le Teint Particulier station can be found at Nordstrom in Downtown Seattle and the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, CA with plans to expand on the East Coast next year. Until then, plan to make a pit stop while in either area for a refill. Hit play on the video below to see how the machine works.
