There's a reason they say to save the best for last. Monday night, Lady Gaga was one of the final stars to step onto the 2016 Grammy Awards red carpet and the chart-topping singer (and newly minted Golden Globe winner) proved that her sartorial creativity is still in full force. For the appearance, Gaga channeled the late David Bowie (whom she's set to pay tribute to on the big stage) in a custom blue Marc Jacobs dress and a bright orange wig that harkens back to Bowie's Ziggy Stardust days.
Unlike the pared down, sophisticated ensembles her and stylist Brandon Maxwell have delivered for events like the most recent Emmys and Golden Globes, the Lady's look for music's biggest night is refreshingly daring. To accompany the Jacobs design, which boasted whimsical embroidery and a suit-like take on tailoring, the Born this Way singer rocked a pair of sky-high red heels with a major platform and wowed with blue eyeshadow.
Will her performance make awards show history? Expectations are high, especially after Gaga took to Instagram Monday afternoon to prove that she's full of emotion heading into her tribute performance. Watch the video here:
In fact, Bowie has influenced her work so much that she marked the beloved star's importance to her with a tattoo of his face earlier this week:
