Lady Gaga's back on top and she's taking the world by storm. We're just a couple of months into 2016 and Gaga's already killed it with a once-in-a-lifetime Super Bowl performance, as well as a Golden Globe win for her first-ever acting gig in American Horror Story: Hotel. Today, her new collaboration with Barneys New York was released for its 2016 spring season ad campaign, in which she's seen sporting a '70s-inspired shag 'do and an oversize denim jacket—a grunge-meets-cool twist on her typically glam looks.
Gaga's not the only star appearing in the new Barneys ads. Alongside the singer will be Yoko Ono, Cyndi Lauper, and Bobby Cannavale for Barneys's new "Our Town" campaign. Photographed by Bruce Weber, who also shot Louis Vuitton's spring 2016 womenswear campaign featuring Jaden Smith, the vintage feel behind the campaign was inspired by the launch of Barneys's new Chelsea flagship store, where the brand's first-ever storefront location opened in 1923.
“My affair with New York City began when I first went to the film school at NYU. Our school was on top of the Fillmore East and it felt as though anything was possible with the music I heard,” Weber said in a press release. “Life in the city was so freewheeling then. As I now took photographs and films of my beloved city, I could still feel its embrace and a tear ran down my cheek for a love once lost and again found.”
What do you think of Gaga's rock 'n roll look in the new ad campaign? One thing's for sure, if she continues showing up and showing out like she did at Sunday's Super Bowl, our girl Gaga isn't going anywhere but up in 2016.
