On Thursday, news broke that Game of Thrones co-stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie were engaged to be married. While neither of the notoriously private actors spoke to the media about the news, the couple quietly confirmed their engagement in the most old-fashioned way: through the newspaper.
The Thrones stars, who played Jon Snow and Ygritte on the show, published an announcement in U.K.’s The Times on Wednesday under the “forthcoming marriages” section. Their names were written as “Mr. K.C. Harington and Miss R.E. Leslie,” so it may not be immediately obvious that this is a Game of Thrones wedding, but the announcement made it clear.
“The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire,” the post read.
The two first met while filming scenes for Game of Thrones Season 2, but they didn’t go public with their relationship until the 2016 Olivier Awards, where they made a joint appearance on the red carpet.
Harington confirmed that Leslie had moved in with him while filming an appearance on The Late Late Show this June. “I’m very, very happy and it’s going well,” he told James Corden.
Finally, Game of Thrones fans are getting a happy ending.
