Khloé Kardashian has always been gorgeous, but it's no secret that the reality star is looking better than ever as of late. And for good reason—Kardashian has lost 40 pounds since embarking on a fitness journey, a lifestyle that she credits with keeping her sane through the good times and the bad.
"I definitely think the physical and the mental go hand in hand," the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star tells People. "I feel so good in the gym that it [affects] the rest of my day. It's a healthy addiction. It's like buying your sanity!"
But just like the rest of us, Kardashian falls off the bandwagon sometimes, most recently when estranged husband Lamar Odom was hospitalized. "Mentally, it took its toll on me," she says. But after a six-week hiatus, the Kocktails With Khloé host was ready to get back into her routine. "I do these drills where I'm running and I realized how out of breath I was compared to how I normally was. But I worked so hard to get there, I couldn't lose it."
But it's not only her four weekly sessions with trainer Gunnar Peterson that are keeping Kardashian in shape; it's her diet, too. She says that she focuses on quick, healthy fare, snacking on fruits and veggies and keeping things like candy and pizza to a minimum—proof that good old-fashioned diet and exercise can do wonders for the body.
