“Confession: I’ve tried every juice cleanse out there, and most resulted in weight yo-yoing. So I was skeptical about test-driving Snyder’s beauty-detox diet. After filling out a seven-page health questionnaire with details most would consider TMI, I had an hour-long consultation with Snyder. Her assessment: My current, grain-heavy diet was an obstacle to digestion because complex carbs don’t break down quickly when mixed with protein. ‘Changing the foods you eat radically changes the way you look and feel,’ she advised."
"Hours later a meal plan was in my in-box. It consisted of hot water with lemon, a probiotic vitamin, and Snyder’s trademark Glowing Green Smoothie for breakfast, a salad and veggie-based soup for lunch, and a protein with vegetables or veggies and one grain for dinner. Apples, baby carrots, and coconut-milk yogurt were sanctioned snacks. Should sugar cravings strike, I was to eat a few pieces of dark chocolate containing 72 percent cacao or more. The plan omitted dairy entirely."
"Snyder was available by text for any lingering questions, and I took advantage of this at restaurants—I was told longtime client Reese Witherspoon does too. The best part? Cheat days aren’t off-limits. ‘Don’t deprive your brain of the carbs it needs to function,’ Snyder said. ‘It’s OK to have a burger once in a while.’”
The results: “After 30 days I was more energized, had fewer stomachaches, and had lost 5 pounds.”
