Katy Perry roared for Hillary Clinton during the closing night of the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Thursday. The pop star performed her newest single, "Rise," and one of her most popular hits, "Roar," for the Democratic presidential nominee, the crowd in before her, and the millions of Americans who tuned in from across the country.
Perry, 31, has been an open and proud Clinton supporter since early on in her campaign. And she's worn some pretty wild outfits to prove it. For last night's performance, the "Firework" singer opted for fewer stars and stripes than usual in a form-fitting Michael Kors dress with silver sequin stripes and modest long sleeves. Perry did, however, accessorize her look with a patriotic vintage red, white, and blue Bulgari choker from Eleuteri and an American flag–bedazzled mic. She also donned a Jane Taylor earring ($685; janetaylor.com) and ear jacket ($1,265; janetaylor.com) for the show.
"So, both of my parents are pastors and staunch Republicans. I didn't finish high school and, unfortunately, I don't have a formal education. But I do have an open mind and I have a voice," Perry said to the crowd at the start of her performance. "I'm asking you to have an open mind and to use your voice because on Nov. 8, you'll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist. You'll have as much say as any billionaire. Or you can just cancel out your weird cousin's vote, if you'd like."
"Because it's not where you come from," she added, "It's what you grow into."
